Noviembre brings a 1.6% rise in hourly rates for domestic workers
The CNTCP resolution updates the hourly scale for house workers and adds the additional amount previously paid separately in August to the base wage.
Domestic workers hired by the hour will receive 1.6% more in November 2026 than they earned in October, according to Resolution 6/2026 of the National Commission for Work in Private Households (CNTCP), published in the Official Gazette in September. The measure also incorporates into the base wage 25% of an additional amount that had been paid separately in August. Let's go to the numbers: for a four-hour weekly schedule, the amount payable in November ranges from $16,682.08 to $21,356.32, depending on the category and whether the worker takes home meals or not.
The gap between the lower and upper ends of the range reflects the scale of functions: caring for elderly people is not the same as general cleaning. The base hourly rate is applied when a worker does not exceed 24 hours per week for the same employer. Above that threshold, the employment relationship becomes monthly, as established by the law regulating work in private households.
Payment timing and statutory benefits
One of the sector's distinguishing features is the timing of payment: unlike employees in a traditional dependent relationship, those who work by the hour are paid at the end of each shift or each week, as agreed. In other words, November pays for the work done in November, not for the previous month. To the scale values are added the benefits that may apply to each situation, along with the employer's contributions for retirement, ART and other concepts provided for in the regulations.
- Hourly scale for four weekly hours: between $16,682.08 and $21,356.32 in November, according to the CNTCP resolution.
- Adjustment of 1.6% over October, plus the incorporation of 25% of the additional amount paid separately in August.
- Monthly employment applies when the worker exceeds 24 weekly hours for the same employer.
- A further 1.6% increase is scheduled for December, closing the year's updates.
ARCA, the revenue collection agency, has put into operation the "Assisted Receipt" tool, available on its website for employers with registered workers. The system automatically calculates all receipt items from the data entered by the employer and the current bases. Once generated, the receipt must be printed in two copies when payment is made in cash: one for the worker and the other, signed, as proof for the employer.
The last increase of the year will arrive in December, also at 1.6%, under the same resolution that set the values for the preceding months. Compared with the same month a year earlier, the cumulative impact of the 2026 adjustments is the figure to evaluate: in December, the year closes with two consecutive updates of 1.6%, and that is the data to watch next month.
