La película de He-Man encontró en Prime Video el público que no tuvo en las salas
Travis Knight reconoció que Amazon MGM Studios Giving prioritized the digital release of “Masters of the Universe” over its theatrical performance.
El sonido de un project's opening weekend is not remembered with certainty: what is clear is that the movie found its audience after arriving on Prime Video. “Masters of the Universe” premiered in Argentine cinemas on June 5, 2026, and although its theatrical performance was modest, its first week on the streaming platform brought approximately 1.170 billion minutes viewed in the United States.
A streaming strategy from the start
Travis Knight said that “its streaming life was much more important than its theatrical life” for Amazon MGM Studios. The director added that, when he joined the project, he did not fully understand that approach: he expected the studio's confidence in the creative team to translate into stronger support for cinemas.
The film was produced with a $175 million budget and starred Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man/Prince Adam, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms and Camila Mendes as Teela. Its arrival in theaters included a large promotional event that transformed the TCL Chinese Theatre into the Castle of Grayskull, but the platform was ultimately responsible for installing the title in the popular conversation.

- Premiere in cinemas: June 5, 2026.
- Production budget: $175 million.
- First week on Prime Video in the United States: approximately 1.170 billion minutes viewed.
- The performance on the platform reopened the conversation about a possible sequel.
Knight stated that he had reached an internal agreement with the result and that the experience reflects a tension present throughout the industry: the dispute between traditional exhibition and on-demand streaming consumption. The modest box office and the platform's success show two different paths for a large production; in my view, the debate is not about choosing one over the other, but about understanding what each audience expects.
