Amazon Prime Video renueva su catálogo con una rareza de Peter Jackson y un thriller de Bob Odenkirk
CuatroPelículas Newly available on the streaming platform span from black comedy to emotional drama, French sports comedy and action thriller.
El aire de la sala de projecting feels like it's been waiting for decades to make its comeback, with the arrival of a cult film that comes armed with blood, gore and a darkly comic sensibility. This new batch, available on Amazon Prime Video, also includes the story of a woman learning to live with loss, a French comedy based on a real basketball story and a Bob Odenkirk thriller that shows why the actor became an unlikely action star.
A cult gem and an offbeat side of Jackson
Before Peter Jackson conquered the world with sweeping fantasy sagas, he was already making wild, low-budget horror films with a sharp black-humor edge. This October addition is both an early look at that career and a deliberately excessive dose of terror and comedy, especially attractive to viewers who like when the genre boundaries dissolve in a completely unexpected way.
The selection moves from that cult corner to a more intimate register with Margaret Qualley in the lead role of a drama about grief. The premise is pushed to the limit, although the story ultimately falls back on a fairly conventional melodrama. Even so, Qualley's performance gives the film the emotional weight it needs and keeps the narrative from feeling entirely predictable.
Sport, comedy and action with a different rhythm
The French comedy draws on the true story of two men who bet on becoming agents for basketball players in France, back when the local professional league was still marginal. Its lightness and well-calibrated humor make the bond with its protagonists convincing, even though the pacing and soundtrack stumble in certain stretches. Bob Odenkirk's closing title, meanwhile, takes its time: the tension is built slowly, the violence arrives when the audience is prepared for it, and the result feels closer to classic genre filmmaking than to a franchise production.
- A cult horror comedy from Peter Jackson's early career.
- A Margaret Qualley drama centered on grief and loss.
- A French comedy inspired by the origins of professional basketball representation.
- A Bob Odenkirk action thriller that favors tension and physical performance.
In my view, this is a varied and welcoming catalog renewal, where each movie offers something different without abandoning the pleasure of straightforward genre entertainment. If I had to choose one right now, I would go back to the early Peter Jackson film: not because it is his most important work, but because watching him experiment without limits is more exciting than seeing him repeat an established formula.
