Blecher concludes Ichigo’s story this Sunday on Disney+

The room is silent, the kind of hush that falls when a long-awaited ending is about to arrive: on Sunday, October 26, Disney+ will premiere episode 50 of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, the final chapter of the anime that resumed Tite Kubo’s story with Ichigo Kurosaki and the Gotei 13.

An ending built around quality

The four-part final stage premiered in July and was initially scheduled to end in September, but Studio Pierrot postponed the last two episodes so the production would not fall below the standards of the season. Episode 49 was released on October 19; the concluding episode arrives one week later.

All 50 episodes of the new arc are available on Disney+, where viewers will also find the resolution of the plot left open when the first anime adaptation ended in 2012. This return began in 2022 with a renewed format and, according to the material, a notable improvement in visual quality.

For me, that improvement matters because this is not just the close of an anime season: it is the completion of a story that accompanied several generations of readers and viewers. Bleach, published by Tite Kubo from the early 2000s, belonged to the so-called Big Three of Shonen Jump alongside One Piece and Naruto, three works that marked a global era for manga and anime.

  • Final episode: number 50.
  • Premiere: Sunday, October 26.
  • Platform: Disney+.
  • The 50 episodes of Thousand-Year Blood War are available on the platform.

Whether this comeback gave longtime followers the ending they expected remains an open question: the series now offers a completed conclusion, but not everyone necessarily feels that every thread was tied. Even with that debate, I find it moving that Ichigo’s journey finally reaches its final chapter after so many years.
